Southend West Tory MP has been stabbed repeatedly while holding a constituency surgery in a methodist church.
'Sir David Amess has died at scene of stabbing - Essex Police
Conservative MP Sir David Amess has died in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex Police have confirmed.
A 25-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder and a knife was recovered from the scene at Belfairs Methodist Church.
In a statement, Essex Police added: "We were called to an address in Eastwood Road North shortly after 12.05pm today.
"We attended and found a man injured.
"He was treated by emergency services but, sadly, died at the scene.
"A 25 year-old man was quickly arrested after officers arrived at the scene on suspicion of murder and a knife was recovered.
"He is currently in custody.
"We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident."'

Followed him from his early days when he appeared with a cracking wedge haircut, said and argued exactly what his constituents thought and wanted, whilst being a bloody good bloke

Met him a couple of times... really nice bloke... was drinking at belfairs last Friday after a day golfing... be there tomorrow morning picking up our coach to ascot... fingers crossed for the bloke

Been speaking to a few mates I know that live around that area they are telling me they have heard he died at the scene... fingers crossed its bullshit but that's what is being said

I met him a few times many moons ago I think, assuming it's who I'm thinking of. MPs get followed around by many a local nut jobs upset that they hadn't responded to the letter they sent about public toilets being closed or whatever.
Who knows the motive on this one though.
